We had the best turnout to date for FCBD. We were so lucky that the rain stopped at 11am when we opened the store and the sun was out by noon!

Thank you to everyone who came in to explore our little world of comic books and collectibles. And special thanks to all our guests: Erica Hesse, Rob Kramer and Scott Barnett as well as Gary & Evan who added their costuming talents to join me as Marvel Superheroes.

If you missed it, you also missed The Great Lodge Cafe's Moose who joined us on the sidewalk to greet the good citizens of Flemington, New Jersey.

We're praying that the rain holds off for Flemington, NJ.

We rearrange the store in order to get more people in the shop but that means some stuff is packed up or just not accessible that day. However, this whole week there's a 40-50% off sale on certain Marvel hardcovers (I saw some New Avengers, F4, Dark Tower but there's more).

For Saturday, noon-5pm
James Fiorentino - rather famous in the sports art community; done portraits of US Presidents and has work in the baseball Hall of Fame; works for Topps
Scott Barnett - was starting to break into the comics industry in the 90s, ended up in commercial art and now trying to return to his love of comics
Rob Kramer - Bongo comics Simpsons title and all around fun guy to meet
Erica Hesse -- one of the famous indies from CGS Land! (but she has a really long ride and will be departing around 4pm so get in early).

Lots of Costumed Characters including myself as Rogue. Also expected are Cyclops and/or Gambit, Dr. Fate and Spider-Man along with some adorable kids who love having their picture taken.

Best Wonder Woman Day Ever!

I'll cut to the chase then move on to my babbling: We raised over $4,000 this year for SAFE in Hunterdon!!! More than last year and all around we improved on the event with more volunteers and better organization.

We owe a great deal of thanks to Andy Mangels for once again pulling through for us with some extra art for our side of the auction. Andy was also responsible for hooking us up with Peter Marston, the son of Wonder Woman's creator William Moulton Marston! Peter and his family joined us for Sunday in Flemington.

We had more volunteers than ever this year which made doling out the chores much more manageable. Many thanks to all the women and teens who came to work for SAFE in Hunterdon, our costumers and our local artists who did free sketches. Artists Chris Muller & Neil Vokes joined us on Sunday. Rob Kramer & James Fiorentino spent Saturday with us. Plus we need to express many thanks to the California Grill for providing food for people this year which was a wonderful addition to our event.

The girls from Hunterdon Central spent all day with us giving out swag from DC Comics to everyone that walked by. We even converted a few into geekdom though one was ahead of the game wearing her Batwoman tee to the event. They were really great about learning trivia about the characters so they could explain things like Flash's ring to kids.

Many thanks go to all of the artists and businesses who made this possible through their donations of items for our auction and raffle. That's where all the money comes from so there's no way we could have even had an event without all those awesome goodies. The poster of Riddle as Amazonia Wonder Woman which featured a banner by Adam Hughes was our biggest ticket item followed by Allison Sohn's stunning colored illustration. Our Tricia Helfer autographed prototype exclusive action figure fetched a pretty penny too and made one fan incredibly happy. Seriously, every bit of art and every item, no matter how big or small in scale, contributed to our total and will help SAFE in Hunterdon bring awareness to domestic violence in our county.

The first day was rather rainy and chilly. It wasn't looking good for us. The Flash and dark Spider-man were inspirations of heroes suffering through the bad weather and waving down traffic all day on Saturday. I kept running inside to warm up. Thankfully, Sunday was the best Wonder Woman Day we could have asked for so when Batman, Robin, Hush, Zatanna and Spider-Man showed up we had run of the entire historic district greeting fans and taking lots of pictures. One of my personal highlights was the chance to do a couple of mini photo shoots with Dave and Leonard where I really got the chance to channel my inner Lynda Carter. My wig got blown out of control within minutes though, so it's appropriately "Jersey big."

Mr. Marston had set up some poses of the costumers and said he would have them made into posters. Plus his family is setting up a personal Wonder Woman Museum in Connecticut! *drool* Hey, that's driving distance for me.

I'm organizing all the pics I have to our public blog galleries. Myspace was rather bitchy last night so I didn't get much up here. The 2008 photos have been added to the gallery on Photobucket where the 2007 are also; I don't think the "group" galleries over there can be organized into subalbums; I believe Flickr has the same problem. But they are public galleries so anyone who was there and took pictures should have the abilities to upload to either of them.

We are getting in lots of awesome artwork for our Superhero/Wonder Woman Original Art Auction.

We hope to raise twice as much as we did last year for SAFE in Hunterdon Women's shelter.

Having a business in town, I think it important to be a part of the community and it feels great being able to give something back to the community and it is such a worthy cause.

Stacy uploaded a lot of the pictures into the photos area of her profile and on the comicfusion.com website; take a look and if you want to bid on any of them, you can send a bid to bids@comicfusion.com and bids should be in $10 increments.

The money will go to the charity and you can get a tax writeoff for it as well!

If you are in the area, we have some great stuff for the raffle. Diamond Select Toys sent us some fantastic items, including a limited Pre-Production Action Figure of Tricia Helfer's character in Battlestar Galatica! And not only is it signed by her, it is 1 of 250 making it uberhot! They also donated a rare Jack O'Neill Action Figure, a BSG Viper Statue, a Transfomers Optimus Prime Bust, Star Trek White Handled Phaser and Communication Pack and more!

CS Moore Studios donated a signed Katchoo Statue! Barbie donated a Batgirl Barbie and Tonner Dolls donated a Signed Wonder Woman Doll!

And more stuff will be coming in!

Over the course of the Superhero Weekend, we not only be visited by Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman but we've just heard that some members of the Green Lantern Corps, The Flash and Spider-Man will also be with us!

Sunday, 10/26 - James Fiorentino (Topps trading cards) doing signings of posters, Neil Vokes sketches (& signings of comics you may bring in from your personal collections The Goon, Wonder Woman-1987, Zombie Proof)

In costume for photo opportunities:

Sunday - Wonder Woman
Many customers will come in costume too so have your cameras ready!

We're a little behind the times with this whole interwebs/social networking thing. Anyhoo, we finally decided to take the plunge and inundate ourselves with all the glorious blogging possibilities. With the 2008 Wonder Woman Day right around the corner, it seemed like the right time to branch out.

We're also very happy to announce that Neil Vokes (The Goon, Wonder Woman) and Reilly Brown (Cable-Deadpool, Incredible Hercules) will be joining our regular crew in Artists' Alley!
